Course Syllabus 8th Grade Science - Mr. Crosby

1st Grading Period

Welcome to 8th Grade Science! Our focus for the 2002 - 2003 school year is to study our physical world and how it relates to our lives. The first Grading Period will focus on Measurement in Science, Making observations, developing Hypothesis to problems and analyzing data.

The Key chapters from our Book include Chapters 1 and 2 and will involve many labs not associated with the text book. SEE MODULE 1 for activities and help on the metric system of measurement.

2nd Grading Period

The second grading period features our study of matter. During this time we will focus on the concept that matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. Students will be actively involved in science with many labs and a element project.

3rd Grading Period

The third six weeks grading period will feature our continued study of matter. Students will be actively involved in labs that they design and carry out. A major focus will be asking good science questions.

4th Grading Period

During the 4th Grading period students will look at how chemistry affects there daily lives. Activities will lead students to make decisions based upon evidence.

5th Grading Period

During the 5th six weeks grading period we will be investigating the physical aspects of our world. Students will be involved in activities developed to stimulate the mind.

6th Grading Period
